A thank you from our Head Teacher

A thank you from our Head Teacher

To all pupils, staff, parents, carers and our wider school community

As we step into the half term holiday, I just wanted to reflect on the past six weeks and to say a few thank you-s.  I cannot quite believe that we are now half way through the academic year – where does the time go?!

This has undoubtedly been a very tricky half term in part, largely due to the huge amount of disruption caused by the ongoing coronavirus crisis, but then the snow decided to pay us a visit… just to cause a little bit more chaos!  Despite the difficulties however, we got through it, like we always do.  I am constantly amazed by the way that our entire school community pulls together during a crisis and I am exceptionally proud to be a part of this community.

My first thank you has to be to our brilliant, wonderful and inspiring pupils.  You have coped so well with all of the changes to your usual routine lately and we are super proud of each and every one of you for working hard either in school or at home.  Well done to all of you!

To all of our wonderful staff – teachers, teaching assistants, our admin team, our kitchen staff, our caretakers - thank you for the part you play in making Thomas Bewick School such a great place to work and for the support you give to our pupils and their families.

To our cleaners and domestic staff – you are the real heroes at the moment, keeping our school buildings clean and as safe as possible! Thank you for all of your hard and important work.

To our transport providers – thank you for getting our pupils to and from school safely!

To our therapy teams – thank you for all of the support you give to our staff, our pupils and their families.

To all parents and carers – thank you for being so understanding, supportive and kind during such a difficult time – you really are amazing and we could not do our jobs without this support.

And to everyone else who works with and supports us… thank you for the part you play in the life of Thomas Bewick School.

I am finishing this half term feeling so, so proud and happy to be a part of such a fantastic school.

I hope that you all have an enjoyable half term break and I shall look forward to seeing, speaking or working with you for the next half of this academic year.

Take care, stay safe, and remember to ‘SMILE AND HELP YOUR FRIENDS’.
